Calendar View Todoist

Doist (the company that makes Todoist and Twist) recently unveiled one of the largest updates to Todoist in recent memory, a broad overhaul they called Todoist Foundations. It brought many useful refinements, including proper sections, a familiar drag-and-drop quick add button on iOS and Android, a new task detail view, and revised iconography. The calendar view in TickTick serves as a useful overview of all your daily responsibilities and commitments. Or the project something’s nested in. TickTick and Todoist were the only two.

Todoist is one of the best to-do list applications on the market, but there are alternatives.

We’re here to shortlist a few of the best Todoist alternatives and recommendations.

1. TickTick

TickTick is probably Todoist’s closest rival. Like a long-lost cousin, they have similar traits - a to-do list, filters, tags, boards and a very similar design.

However, TickTick adds a layer of habit tracking, custom themes and calendar view locked away in premium. If you want something close to Todoist, without being Todoist, this is your best bet.

2. Things 3

If Todoist was a bit too cluttered. Then Things 3 is the clutter-free minimal design you might be looking for, with an entirely different method to working (upcoming, anytime, someday)

Things 3 takes time to get used to, but offers a stunning alternative to Todoist without a subscription fee, although if you have a Mac, iPad and iPhone, you’ll still be shelling out a one-off $80 price.

3. Zenkit To-Do

Probably the newest of the options, but offers the best suite experience. Zenkit To-Do provides a Wunderlist like experience to managing your tasks, offering themes, tasks, project lists and tags.

All very helpful but not totally offering a full feature comparison to Todoist, but if you are looking at Microsoft To-Do, it’ll be a better bet than that overall, if budgets not your worry.

4. ClickUp

This is primarily a project management software, but offers a helpful free and personal version of the account. This is perfect if your goal is to manage your tasks and projects in a variety of flexible views - like timeline, board and table view, to name a few.

5. Any.Do

Any.Do provides a much more relaxed way to manage your tasks, but the special feature people love is being able to see their calendar events alongside their tasks, combined with a minimal design and look.

Todoist And Google Calendar

This is more suited to the folks who want a balanced to-do list application, with very little to learn when you get started.

Todoist is one of the most powerful task management apps out there, and part of the reason for that is its strong integration with third-party services. To date, though, it has lacked decent integration with Google Calendar, relying on half-baked tie-ins that barely worked. Today, that changes, as Todoist is announcing official integration with Google Calendar.

With this new official integration (via TechCrunch), Todoist will be able to directly pull information from Google Calendar and vice versa. So, if you’ve set an event in Google Calendar, it can be added to a task list on Todoist, and a task with a due date on Todoist can be directly added to the calendar.

Recurring tasks also appear as multiple events in your calendar, and anything changed on either end of the integration will appear on the other side. The integration is completely two-way, which is fantastic to see.

In Calendar, Todoist tasks create their own calendar view, meaning you can keep them somewhat separate from your standard events. You can also easily keep your calendar free of excess clutter by enabling this integration on a project-by-project basis, rather than your entire Todoist task list.

This functionality is available today for all Todoist users, and it’s simple to set up. Simply access your Todoist account (from the web portal) and go to Settings > Integrations, and then follow the steps to integrate your Google Calendar account.
